Full description

Bukit Lawang sits on the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park, one of the last places on earth where you can see Sumatran orangutans in their natural habitat. This 3-day trip takes care of everything from Medan, so you can simply enjoy the jungle.

After a scenic drive through rubber and palm oil plantations, you settle into a guesthouse by the river. The next morning your certified local guide leads you into the rainforest to look for orangutans, Thomas leaf monkeys, gibbons, macaques, and hornbills.

In the afternoon you reach a campsite right by the river. Take a swim, enjoy a freshly cooked Indonesian dinner, and fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle. On the last day you ride inner tubes down the Bohorok River back to the village before your transfer to Medan.
